Activities Office Assistant Job Description

The Activities Office Assistant (AOA) is part of the College Nine and College Ten Programs & Activities Team. The Activities Office Assistant works under the general supervision of the College Programs Coordinator (CPC) and Assistant College Programs Coordinator (ACPC). Working in collaboration with the Community Programs Assistants (CPAs), Fall Planning Assistant (FPA) and Spring Planning Assistant (SPA), the Activities Office Assistant helps with the general operation of the Activities Office. The Activities Office Assistant handles general office tasks (copying, posting, running errands, etc.) and assists the Activities Team's student leaders with tasks related to their programs.

Examples of Duties

  • The AOA is responsible for general administrative support in the Activities Office. This can include data entry, word processing, light desktop publishing, photocopying, and posting of flyers and banners.
  • The AOA, in collaboration with the other student leaders of the Activities Office, provides program and event support. This can include the creation of flyers, banners,decorations and passive educational programming, and program preparation, set-up, execution and strike. In addition, the AOA may be assigned special independent projects as needed by the CPC or ACPC.
  • The AOA works an average of 5-10 hours per week as arranged with the ACPC. These hours include office hours, program staffing, and team meetings. Please note that during Fall Training, Welcome Week and Commencement, the AOA may be expected to work more than 5-10 hours a week.

Compensation
The AOA position is classified at the SA II rate. Selected applicants will receive hourly compensation based on the SA II rate ($13.00/hour in 2020). For more information, please check this job posting at the Career Center website.

Employment Period
The employment period is for Fall, Winter, and Spring in 2020/21.

Academic Requirements
  • Must be a UCSC student with a minimum of one (1) quarter of experience.
  • Must remain in good academic standing throughout the period of employment.
  • Must maintain a full academic course load during the employment period.
Judicial Standing
  • Must be in good judicial standing and not have any outstanding judicial issues.
  • Must maintain good judicial standing through the entire employment period.


Administrative Information
  • The AOA must be accessible by phone and email. Voicemail and emails need to be checked on a daily basis.
