Tabling Guidelines for College Nine and John R. Lewis College

Due to staffing vacancies, tabling at College Nine and John R. Lewis College by outside groups is temporarily suspended. Sorry for the inconvenience.

1. Outside Tabling in the vicinity of the College Nine and John R. Lewis College Dining Hall & Multipurpose Room

This policy covers the area in front of the Dining Hall and Multipurpose Room, as indicated in the map below.

In order to obtain approval for outside tabling, please contact the Activities Office (acpc910@ucsc.edu) at least seven business days before the proposed activity.

  1. Tabling at the colleges is limited to campus affiliates.
  2. Tabling requests can only be made for the current quarter.
    • Tabling is not permited before classes begin (Welcome Week) or after classes have ended (Finals Week) for organizations that are not affiliated with College Nine and John R. Lewis College.
  3. Tabling is limited to two (2) organizations at a time.
  4. Priority will be given to organizations that are affiliated with College Nine and John R. Lewis College.
  5. Tabling by organizations that are not affiliated with College Nine and John R. Lewis College is limited to 20 hours per quarter.
  6. Amplified sound is not permitted.
  7. Prior approval from the Activities Office is required for all food or drink distribution.
    • We only allow distribution of non-perishable and pre-packaged food or drink.
    • Additionally, we may require tablers to obtain a campus food permit.
  8. Prior approval from the Activities Office is required for cash collection (sales and/or donations).
    • Such activities must comply with the requirements of the UCSC Student Policies and Regulations Handbook (click here) and Commercial Activities Policy (click here).
  9. Tabling activities must be kept to outside areas. Buildings and residential areas may not be entered.
    • Current residents: see Section 30.41 of Handbook (click here) for details regarding advocacy in your own residence hall.

  10. Tables and chairs are provided by exception only.
  11. Passerby paths of travel may not be blocked or obstructed by activities.

Registered Student Organizations

A completed SOAR Event Proposal is required before tabling requests that involve food or the collection of cash will be considered by the Activities Office. Contact the Assistant College Programs Coordinator (acpc910@ucsc.edu) to go over the details and secure Activities Office approvals at least seven business days before the proposed activity.

 

2. Residence Hall and Apartment Quads

Tabling is not permitted in the Residence Hall & Apartment Quads. Current residents see Section 30.41 of Handbook (click here) for details regarding advocacy in your own residence hall.
